UPDATE: A spokesman for Gwent Police has said that a 40-year-old van driver has been airlifted to University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, with serious injuries following the collisionHe added: "Gwent Police would like to thank those motorists who have been inconvenienced for their patience."Emergency services are busy dealing with a ‘major’ traffic accident on the A465 between Mardy and the Old Hereford Road.

The A465 is blocked in both directions between the B4521 (Mardy) and Llanvihangel Crucorney.

A Gwent Police spokeswoman told The Chronicle, “We were called at approximately 2:40pm today (Wednesday 31 October) to reports of a road traffic accident involving two vehicles on the A465.

“We sent two rapid response vehicles, one emergency ambulance and crews were supported by Wales Air Ambulance.”
