Abergavenny town centre is lit up for the festive season thanks to a virtual switch on organised by local businesses and the town council.
The switch on included four video clips shown on four separate evenings and played out on social media as well as shared on websites throughout the county.
The objective is to put Abergavenny to the forefront of people’s minds when shopping for festive goodies as well as showcasing the amazing new Christmas Light Scheme .
This is a joint initiative between Y-Fenni Business Community and Abergavenny Town Council.
Many town centre businesses have decorated their windows for Christmas.
Usually, the Mayor and the Editor of the Abergavenny Chronicle judge the window displays and the business with the best festive window receives free advertising in the Chronicle.
However this year, the festive window judging will be different.
Organisers would like shoppers to judge the best festive window so whilst you’re out and about shopping in town please take the time to look at the windows and cast your vote.
Remember all the shops on Cross Street, Market Street, Lower Cross Street, Lion Street and Lewis Lane are included.
You can cast your vote by popping into the Tourist Information Centre in the Town Hall or through the Town Council Facebook page.
Voting will take place from Monday December 7 to Sunday December 13 with the winner announced in the Chronicle on December 16 together with images of the best windows.
Abergavenny has a wonderful range of shops where you can buy unusual and special gifts and cards.
Now with the extra bonus of sparkling lights, festive windows, and Christmas cheer there’s even more reason to pop into Abergavenny and shop local this Christmas.
