A COMBINATION of grants, fundraising and four months of hard work have led to a small Monmouthshire community celebrating a new-look village hall.

The hall, at Llanddewi Rhydderch, now sports a balcony and patio

along with other additions and improvements including access stairs, designed in a contemporary style and overlooking landscaped grounds.

The money for the refurbishment came via three years of fund raising activities, a loan of £2,000 from the Llanover Community Council and a grant of £15,000 from the National Grid’s Community Grant Programme.

The new hall was opened by David Tod, president of the Rotary Club of Abergavenny who was joined by Nick Judd, chair of the trustees of the Village Hall and a number of supporters including Anthony Davies of Anthony A Davies Ltd and architect, Ben Bowker.

Nick stated, ‘This has been a fantastic project for the hall, we have had magnificent support from the village and our benefactors without whose collective help none of this would have been possible.’
