DESPITE valiant efforts the organisers of one of Britain's finest one day agricultural shows have been forced to cancel this year's event, scheduled for Saturday, September 13.
Last week it was announced that the show would move from its traditional site to the neighbouring area, usually used as a car park, but following another week of heavy rain and with fears for the safety of exhibitors and visitors, the decision was taken to cancel the event.
Chairman, of Usk Show, Mrs Caroline Turner, said 'that numerous changes have had to be implemented due to the ground conditions and, with further atrocious weather expected over the coming week, we can no longer ensure the safety and enjoyment for the competitors and public alike.
I am sure that regular show goers will appreciate everyone's disappointment. The elements have conspired against us this year, so lets all look forward to next years Usk Show, which will take place on Saturday, September 12 2009'.
Usk is the latest in a series of traditional Summer events which has been forced to cancel this year as a result of the appalling Summer weather.
