Walkers and cyclists could be making journeys through a disused Usk railway tunnel, a charity has suggested.

Usk tunnel is one of several currently being considered by transport charity Sustrans, which plans and promotes walking, cycling and public transport in Wales.

The 234m tunnel would help pedestrians and cyclists avoid the A472 before emerging at Usk Primary School. It is one of five shortlisted through Sustrans work commissioned by Welsh Government.

A spokesperson for Monmouthshire County Council said the proposal was ‘being looked at’.
