PLANS to transform a former public house to a home have been given the green light by council chiefs.
The owner of the Greyhound Inn on Chepstow Road, Usk has been given the go-ahead to turn the grade two listed building into a family-sized home.
The new owner and applicant, Mr Robert Lewis, believes that turning the two-storey 17th century building into a home is the best use of an existing historic building.
Mr Lewis has applied for listed building consent to carry out the work, which would include retaining and restoring some original features.
Proposed plans show little alteration to the inside of the building, other than re-instating original walls and raising lean-to-roofs over the beer cellar and pantry. An outbuilding, providing toilets, is to be demolished and access to the property from Chepstow Road will remain the same.
