The team at Pont Kemys Caravan and Camping Park in Usk were celebrating when they received their AA Caravan and Camping Award as AA Campsite of the Year for Wales 2016 sponsored by Avanti Gas.
The annual AA Caravan and Camping Awards recognise the best of the best when it comes to the nation’s caravan and camping sites. Award winners are selected by the AA’s team of expert Campsite Inspectors who travel the length and breadth of the British Isles to ensure that campers can be confident of high standards wherever they see the AA Pennants at a campsite.
With the River Usk meandering through it and the surrounding trees creating a wonderful habitat for wildlife, the only distractions at Pont Kemys are the pleasant ones of running water and birdsong. Hands-on owners Bryan and Rose Jones have been welcoming guests to their immaculately maintained holiday destination for many years. It has the benefit of separate family and adults-only enclosed areas, the latter providing fully-serviced and very spacious all-level pitches. The centrally located modern amenities block is tastefully decorated, equipped with top-notch modern fixtures and fittings, including air-conditioning and central heating for the cooler months. This excellent, well-run park is an obvious choice to receive the AA Campsite of the Year for Wales Award.
Rose Jones from Pont Kemys said, ‘We feel very honoured to be awarded the AA Campsite of the Year for Wales. We were both surprised and delighted when we were told. It is so good to receive recognition from an organisation as prestigious as the AA because we know that the guide is seen as possibly the most respected publication for caravanners and campers in the UK.
It is also an award for all the hard work put in by the team here at Pont Kemys. The reputation of a park is dependent on the people who do the day to day work, cleaning the facilities, grounds care and other maintenance not to mention answering enquiries and handling bookings. The AA inspectors have given us invaluable advice over the last fifteen years which has contributed to this very special recognition of Pont Kemys Caravan and Camping Park.’
All the award winners were recognised for their achievements at the lunch held at the Aztec Hotel in Bristol. The awards lunch also marked the official launch of the AA Caravan and Camping Guide, now in its 48th year. The guide has details of over 900 fully inspected and independently graded camping parks across England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
