Frogmore street and most of Baker Street in Abergavenny have been closed overnight due to a potentially unsafe building - understood to be the former Britannia Inn.

UPDATE: A council spokesman told The Chronicle this morning, "Police and the county council are reacting to building surveyors’ concerns that the former Britannia public house is unstable.

"We are working to ensure public safety by closing the highway outside the premises on both Frogmore St and Baker St.

"Plans to divert buses and all vehicle and pedestrian traffic will be developed once the nature and duration of the risk are established."
