Another day in the saddle and another change in landscape. From vines as far as the eye can see, to a much more varied agriculture with wheat, maize and sunflowers dotted among the vines.  We’ve gone from fine wines (one establishment in St Emilion was offering a 1945 vintage at 6440 Euros  - that’s not a misprint) to cognac and pineau charentes.

Our journey took us along the Gironde, a river about as wide as the Bristol Channel, through the town of Blaye with it’s ancient citadel.

Something that motorists probably wouldn’t notice that is obvious on the bike is the changes in road surface as one moves from Department to Department, both in quality and type. Maybe road engineers should all ride the roads they are responsible for.

Lunch time turned out to be both delicious and great for Bobath, our charity as we were given £20 and €5 towards our target.

Now at our B&B near Gemozac we are eagerly awaiting tonight’s Euro 2016 matches - come on Wales!
