Due to high winds, the M48 Severn bridge is closed this morning in both directions.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning across a large swathe of Wales for Christmas Day.

Gusts of up to 55mph (89km/hr) are expected widely, it said, with up to 65mph (105km/hr) gusts along exposed coasts and high ground.

Its warning covers 18 of Wales' 22 council areas including Monmouthshire.

The Prince of Wales Bridge, formerly known as the Second Severn crossing, is still open
