More than 60 firefighters attended a fire at Llanarth Court yesterday afternoon which destroyed a ward used by male patients who have now lost all their possessions.

An appeal has gone out for clothing and anything else which will help these men now in dire need.

A post on social media today is asking for items. Dobbins Store has agreed to be a drop off point.

South Wales Fire received a call reporting the fire at 3.15pm yesterday (Tuesday).

More than eight tenders and 60 firefighters were at the scene for several hours.

Flames and smoke could be seen for miles around.

Dramatic images of the blaze were posted on social media.

A spokesperson for South Wales Fire Service said no one was injured and all patients have been relocated.

The cause of the fire is not known at this time.

Last night residents in Raglan lost water pressure for a short time because of the blaze.

Monmouthshire AM Nick Ramsay posted last night saying fire crews needed to replenish their water supplies using a fire tanker in Castle Street.
