Blaenavon Blues - 0
Undy Athletic - 2
THE Blaenavon Blues inconsistent form was once again evident on Saturday as they slumped to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Undy Athletic.
Undy started the game strong and delivered long ball after long ball into the heart of the Blues defence.
This was followed by a string of consecutive corners which were deftly delivered into the Blaenavon box.
The Blues defenders did well to keep the Undy big men from getting their heads to the ball, but after a spell of concerted pressure the Undy finally scored from a goal-mouth scramble.

Due to the strong wind both sets of players were finding it hard to read the flight of the ball in the air, and Undy continued to hit the high long balls hoping that their big front man would get the flick on.
The Blues continued to attack and were denied what looked like a 100% penalty when Johnson was fouled from behind. Instead, the referee waved the appeals away and awarded a goal kick. In the aftermath a breakaway by Undy down the right flank rode two Blues tackles, one outside the box, one inside the box, the attacker then lost control and the referee pointed to the spot. Undy duly converted and sealed the game.
This was yet another frustrating day for the Blues, who show glimpses of quality going forward, but are still lacking in the necessary killer instinct.
Next week the Blues welcome County new boys Llanwern RTB to the Co-op Field, for a County Motors challenge cup game.

In Gwent County Division Three, the Abergavenny Thursdays appear to have finally recovered their scoring shoes after sealing an impres
