Undy - 4

Blaenavon Blues - 0

UNDY Athletic took a valuable three points towards their Welsh league dream on Saturday while Blaenavon Blues were left with nothing.

The Blues travelled to Undy and started the game the slower of the two clubs.

Undy dominated the opening exchanges and found themselves deservedly one up after 20 minutes. The Blues who started with a defensive 4-5-1 formation reverted back to 3-5-2 soon after.

Blaenavon settled back into the more comfortable formation and tried to get the ball down and play football on a pitch which had held up well considering the amount of rain that had fallen during the previous 24 hours.

They had the better of the final ten minutes of the first half but never really created any clear cut chances.

The Blues started the second half as they finished the first, by testing the home keeper who made two very good saves to keep Josh Bull at bay.

It was Bull who was unlucky not to be awarded a penalty after being hacked down in the box. As the Blues appealed, Undy turned defence into attack and sent the ball upfield into the Blaenavon box before it was fired into the roof of the Blaenavon net.

Sensing blood and moving in for the kill, Undy made it 3-0 two minutes later.

Unfortunately the Blues could not find a way back into the game despite all their effort and commitment and a class Undy side made the game safe with a fourth and final goal ten minutes from time.

This weekend the Blues welcome Abertillery Excelsior's to the Memorial ground for a 3pm kick off.

Meanwhile in Gwent County division two, Mardy's game against Cefn Fforest ended all square on 3-3.

Elsewhere in division three, the Abergavenny Thursdays stay right where they are after their game against Underwood Athletic was postponed.
