ABERGAVENNY was brought to a standstill today as workers and shoppers were caught in the aftermath of an early morning road traffic accident at The Hardwick Roundabout.

The eastbound carriageway of the A465 Heads of the Valley road was closed from its junction with the A4143 following the accident in which a lorry overturned

Lengthy queues built up on all routes into the town as emergency services worked to clear the busy roundabout.

It took five hours for some commuters travelling into the town from Brynmawr and three hours from Cwmbran.
