World record-breaking Welsh and international rugby referee Nigel Owens will be the Care Council’s special guest for two inspirational question and answer sessions at the National Eisteddfod.

Nigel’s talents, humble nature and hilarious one-liners both on and off the pitch have won him a legion of fans in Wales and beyond.

As the first openly gay Welsh rugby personality, Owens’s struggles with his sexuality within a stereotypically heterosexual sport and a small rural community, are no secret.

But he will join the Care Council to talk openly about his personal and professional experiences as he continues on his mission to help others facing similar challenges, giving an honest account of the access he had to care and support when he needed it most, and his opinion of the current services available.

Hosting one of the sessions will be another Welsh favourite – Taro’r Post’s Garry Owen.

A conversation with Nigel Owens will take place at the Care Council for Wales stand (705-707) from 11am-11.30am and 3pm-3.30pm (with Garry Owen) on Friday August 5.
