Thousands are expected to pack Belgrave Park this Saturday as Abergavenny Round Table puts on its biggest fireworks display to date.
The annual event will see the sky over Abergavenny filled with a spectacular and colourful carnival of flash, panache and things that go boom.
Held since 1969, the event draws in thousands each year and this November 5 the organisers have made sure things will go off with a bang by choreographing the fireworks with music from well loved movies.
Fireworks officer Matt Lane explained, “This has been a real challenge to pull this one off, and it’s certainly not one to be missed.”
Abergavenny Round Table is made up of a group of local volunteers who spend hours putting on the event for the local community.
All funds raised from the event go directly into local charities and worthwhile causes in the Abergavenny and District area.
Treasurer Chris Copner added, “This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and we are expecting record numbers.”
Abergavenny Round Table would like to thank its local sponsors this year for helping them increase the size of the display.
As always food and drink will be available on site along with children’s fun fair.
The events will be held Saturday, November 5 at Belgrave Park. Gates open at 6pm.
In keeping with tradition, this year Abergavenny Round Table asked local schools to design a fireworks safety poster.
Matt Lane told the Chronicle,
“There were lots of great entries and it was very tough to judge but we managed to pick the winners, who will each receive a family ticket, plus a child’s ticket for each of the other children in their class and a £50 donation to the school.
“The runners up will also receive a family ticket to the display.”
