The Third Annual Classic and Vintage Show, organised by the Masonic Province of Monmouthshire and held on the fields behind the Hog’s Head in Llantilio Crossenny on Saturday, July 1, promises to be the best yet.
Entries include many unusual and interesting vehicles from classic and vintage clubs like the Usk Valley Classic Car Club, The Military Vehicle Trust (with numerous British, American and German military vehicles from World War Two), a large contingent from the Anglo and South West Freelanders, the South Wales Classic Car Club, the Caterham’s Lotus Sevens Register, several Mini clubs and The Triumph Stag Owner’s Club.
There will also be the usual pre-war Fords, Morrises, Jaguars etc and post-war Land Rovers, commercials and motorcycles, an interesting mix of vintage and classic American cars and a wide range of sports and everyday production cars from the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s up to the modern age.
There will be a good selection of competition cars too, such as circuit racing and rally cars, not to mention tractors, some in their original working clothes.
And there will be a judge’s favourite award for the most interesting barn find - this year to include a 1931 Morris 8 Tourer and a 1951 Land Rover Series 1/80inch.
The event will be supported with craft stalls and lots of fun and entertainment for the family, including a human fruit machine, rifle range, coconut shy, skittle alley, splat-the-rat, hook-the-duck and many more.
Entry is free but a £5 donation per car will assist the organisers in raising funds for local charities and good causes. Organisations to have benefitted in previous years include Women’s Aid, Friends of Bailey Park, Nevill Hall Hospital Paediatric Ward and Nevill Hall Radio, St Mary’s Church and local scout and football groups.
Gates open at 10am. The Hog’s Head is along the Old Monmouth Road between Abergavenny, past Park Pen-y-Fal towards White Castle and will be clearly signposted on the day.
