Police in Monmouthshire are appealing for information after burglaries targeting Audi cars and other valuables hit Abergavenny and Monmouth over the weekend.

Police said a watch and black Audi A7 were stolen from an address on School Way, Llanfoist, Abergavenny, between 12.30pm on Saturday February 13 and just after midnight.

Five other burglaries took place in the Monmouth area where a white Audi A4 was stolen from Cornpoppy Avenue between 4.30pm and and 10.50pm on Friday February 12.

A grey Audi A6 estate, television and oil radiator was taken in a burglary on Highfield Road, Monmouth between 2.20pm and 8pm Saturday February 13.

Burglars escaped with a laptop and mobile phone from an address on Incline Road, Redbrook, over the weekend, and cash from a Wyesham Avenue burglary sometime Saturday afternoon.

Another burglary in the Wyesham Avenue area of Monmouth reported nothing stolen.

Joe Facchiano, a community support officer with Gwent Police Neighbourhood Watch, warned the area was going through a ‘surge of burglaries’.

He said spare key sets were being targeted before criminals made-off in prestigious cars including Jaguars, Audis, BMWs and Volkswagens.

A police spokesperson said, “If anyone has any information about any of these burglaries, or saw something they consider suspicious, please call us on 101.

“Please ensure your homes are secure at all times, even if you are just popping out for a few minutes. A simple home alarm system makes a good deterrent.

“Always take your car keys with you, leaving your spare keys in a secure and creative place, somewhere that a would-be burglar wouldn’t think to look.”
