MRS Pat Hughes (Postbag on August 28) should not be

flabbergasted that people can manipulate data to

expediently suit their line of reasoning - countless

individuals exploit this ruse, some might say it has

become obligatory.

If Mrs Hughes' views do not correspond entirely with

those of particular oft espoused views there is one

thing that she can be assured of. When her opinion is

required such critic will most emphatically supply it

for her.

Mrs Hughes should be in no doubt that some

correspondents' recurrent donations to Postbag plug

a much needed space. Some even provide more

repeats than those responsible for BBC programme

schedules.

Regular readers of Postbag will be now be much

acquainted with those habitual correspondents who

would have no reluctance in proffering advice on any

of their myriad of specialties. This only serves to

establish the veracity of the old axiom, "You can

always find some Eskimos to tell Arabs how to cope

with the desert heat."
