St Teilo’s Church, Llantilio Pertholey have been awarded four silhouettes by the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust to participate in the ‘There But Not There’ project.

The ‘There But Not There’ project is aiming to inspire local communities to take part in hosting installations of remembrance in their local area. Consequently, the silhouettes will be on display at St Teilo’s over the weekend of November 10-11 as part of a wider display on the Mardy.

On Saturday, November 10 the church will be open from 10am – 4pm for visitors to quietly reflect on the events of 100 years ago and to learn more about the men remembered on the parish war memorial.

The silhouettes will also form a focal point for the parish remembrance service on Sunday, November 11 at 10.50am and a special First World War Stations of the Cross service at 6pm on the same day.

Once completed, the silhouettes will be placed in the Chapel of Remembrance which the church is currently raising funds towards.

The funding for the silhouettes was made under the Armistice and Armed Forces Communities programme, which makes awards to bring communities together to remember and to think about the Armed Forces today.
