Not many 15 year-old girls get the chance to record an album with a renowned French artist but during the recent half-term, Abergavenny schoolgirl Honey McKenna jetted off to Paris to perform on Fleur de Son's new album writes Rhian Price.
The Sound Council which composes music for luxury French markets such as Christian Dior, approached Honey and asked her to become involved with the album, after visiting her MySpace page.
Etienne Schezery and Jef Guillon, from Fleur de Son even asked the talented youngster to help write on the album after being impressed by her collection of songs, which she wrote and performed herself.
Honey began singing at the age of six and has since had classical training from music teacher Tessa Cotes-Bishop, in Hereford.
The gifted teenager also plays a range of instruments and is a competent guitar, clarinet and harp instrumentalist.
The young musician is no stranger to the spotlight; as a member of AAODS musical theatre and Abergavenny Pantomime Company, she has already competed in numerous competitions, including Abergavenny Eisteddfodd.
Since the trip, Honey has been approached by Australian band, Operator Please, who have asked her if to perform one of her songs 'Agnus Dean' with them on their UK tour.
Honey, who has recently completed her GCSEs said "Every, day-to-day activities inspire my song writing, from school to other experiences."
Honey, is inspired by singer-songwriters Kate Nash and Lily Allen and says that it was "a great experience to work in a professional studio with talented people; not something that happens everyday, especially when you're fifteen."
Honey is aiming to return to school next year to study A Level music and hopes that the album will be a "huge success."
