Today (Monday), between midday and 2.00pm, artists Parry and Glynn will place a one metre cubed block of ice inside the Eisteddfod’s Gorsedd circle. This marks the end of the 2016 Coleridge in Wales festival. Over the next 36 hours this ice block will slowly melt.

The Welsh Government has passed The Wellbeing of Future Generations legislation. This new Welsh law requires all public institutions to take steps to ensure the wellbeing of people who will live in the future.

This melting block of ice is an invitation to explore how Wales could lead the world in sustainable development. Ways in which landscape, community, relationship and economy come together in Wales are a form of cultural treasure.

Once the ice block has melted, Ceiriog’s poem ‘Aros Mae’r Mynyddau Mawr’ will be sung.
