THERE has been plenty of on-court action in the Abergavenny Tennis Club Championships in the run-up to the Finals Day on Saturday.
At the Semi Final stage, defending champion Arthur Hales remains in the Men's Singles where there is considerable threat from other seeds Jeremy Callard and Lloyd Barcenilla as well as Mark Johnson who are all still in the running.
Number one seed Lisa Fawkes has already secured her place in the Ladies Singles Final where she will play the winner of Alice Garlick and Brenda Saunders.
A potential Men's Doubles Final of the contrasting styles of Andy Clement and Arthur Hales against Lloyd Barcenilla and Darryl Walters could provide some great entertainment alongside the Ladies Doubles of Alice Garlick and Helen Parker against Nan Jones and Brenda Saunders.
In the Mixed Doubles Semi Finals, Alice Garlick and Clive Bidwell face Brenda Saunders and Andy Clement while Sarah Miles and Robert Wedlake take on Helen Parker and Mark Johnson.
The 2009 Championships also sees the junior events running alongside the senior matches. Jonathan Morgan is on course for a place in the U18 Boys Final and the U14 Girls Final of Mair Floyd Bosley against Jemma Davies is already decided.
In the U10 Boys Singles, James Morris and Dan Taylor will do battle whilst the U9 Boys sees Herbie McKenna-Morgan against Will Robinson.
Elliot Simmonds and Oliver Stansfield will contest the U8 Boys with Louise Sadler and Bethany Jones in the U8 Girls.
Abergavenny Tennis Club will be holding its annual Finals Day this Saturday. During the morning the club is holding Two open 'Play Tennis' sessions for juniors (10am for 4-9's, 11am for 10-16's).
Admittance is £2 each and youngsters will be treated to some tennis coaching, competitions and games all designed for beginners.
The finals themselves start from 1.30pm and include both senior and junior events. Admittance for spectators is free and the draw for each event can be viewed online at abergavennytennis.org.uk.
