The Superdrug store which has been in Abergavenny for more than 30 years is set to close.

The popular health and beauty retailer has had a store in the town’s Cibi Walk precinct for 35 years but will close on Saturday April 23, after failing to renew their lease.

No more stock has been delivered to the store over the last few weeks, with reductions placed on store products as they look to clear remaining stock.

Following the news Abergavenny residents took to social media expressing their sadness that the store is closing after so many years in the town.

After hearing the news, Abergavenny Town Mayor Tudor Thomas said: “I am disappointed that Super Drug is closing after 35 years of successful trading in their current premises. It is a great shame that such a well-established business in the town is closing.”

The store is expected to be replaced by a Red Cross charity shop specialising in furniture.

A number of people have expressed disappointment online that another charity shop is to take the place of a retail store
