Abergavenny Thursdays U16s - 1
Undy Athletic 'A' U16s - 1
ABERGAVENNY Thursdays Under 16s entertained Undy 'A' on the weekend, in a top of the table clash, which saw the Thursday maintain their league leaders status.
The game started brightly for the Thursdays with an early test of the Undy keeper through a Jimmy Davies strike.
Undy replied in earnest and forced a fine save off the Thursdays captain in goal.
Looking to assert their usual passing game, the Thursdays's life was made hard by the confidence of Undy in defence.
The Thursdays finally gained a well-deserved advantage when Conor Dando capitalisesd on the uncertainty of the Undy centre back to give his team the lead.
The second half proved to be a lot tougher test for the Thurdays as Undy applied the pressure and looked for the equaliser.
The Thursdays defence that has proved strong all season, was very much stretched in the last 30 minutes of the game.
Sean Russell, man of the match from last week's game, again showed his resilience and solidity at the back, alongside Callum Smith, who had earlier saved an effort on the Abergavenny goal line.
With 10 minutes on the clock and the Thursdays looking likely for a win, disaster struck when the failure to deal with a high ball saw Undy pounce and make it all square.
The Thursdays will look to improve on this draw when they travel to local rivals and title contenders, Goytre, this Sunday.
