Students from Crickhowell High School got their chance to put Liberal Democrat AM Kirsty Williams in the hot seat last week. It was all part of the annual Young Interviewer competition organised by the Rotary Club of Crickhowell.
Eight pupils aged between 11 and 14 - Saskia McKay, Jasmine Wise, Lucie Williams, Beth Edwards, Jacob Addis, Tad Holman, Eve Astle and Ben Morden - took it in turns to interrogate their celebrity guest. They were all mentored by last year’s winner of the competition Beth Southwick and helped by their teacher Harry Bowsher.
Kirsty, who was also ‘grilled’ last year, said, “The standard of interviewing has risen even higher than previous years, which must be down to Beth.”.
The overall winner was Ben Morden of year 7 who probed Kirsty on her policy on defence and immigration. Given Ben has six more years of schooling ahead of him, Kirsty can expect even tougher questioning in future years!
