RAGLAN school teacher Paul Spooner will be rubbing shoulders with the world's greatest rally drivers this weekend when he competes IN The Wales Rally GB.
Spooner has moved from his usual job at The King Henry Comp to co-drive for Steve Perez in a Ford Focus WRC.
The partnership has already been tried and tested successfully and the two are capable of a good result.
The car will be run by The Stobart VK M-Sport Rally Team and the crew will start at number twenty three.
The Wales Rally GB runs over three days from this Friday to Sunday. Friday's stages are Hafren, Sweet Lamb, and Myherin, then a service halt with those three stages run again later in the afternoon with two runs of Walters Arena to close the day.
Saturday sees the rally at Resolven,Halfway and Crychan again followed by a service halt and the earlier stages repeated later in the afternoon.
The Millennium Stadium finishes off the day with a super special rally stage. On Sunday two stages Rheola and Port Talbot are used again followed by a service with these stages repeated. The rally finishes in Cardiff at about 3pm.
With Sebastian Loeb having tied up the FIA Championship for Drivers, the FIA Manufactures title is still up for grabs between Citroen and Ford.
This will be the 76th running of the rally sponsored again this year by the Welsh Assembly Government.
The rally has a ceremonial start from outside the City Hall in Cardiff at 6pm where all cars will drive over a start ramp. For further information on the rally see http://www.walesrallygb.com">www.walesrallygb.com
