Member of the Welsh Parliament for Monmouth Nick Ramsay has paid tribute to former Mayor of Abergavenny Alan Breeze, who has passed away after a short illness.

Alan Breeze, a former schoolteacher at King Henry VIII Comprehensive School was for many years a respected member of Abergavenny Town Council, also serving as Mayor of the Town.

Speaking today Mr Ramsay said: “I was deeply saddened to hear the news of the passing of former Mayor Alan Breeze.

“Alan was a well-respected member of the community who was known by many people in Abergavenny from his days teaching at King Henry VIII School.

“I first got to know Alan during my time as C.Cllr for the Mardy ward back in 2004 when Alan represented the Castle ward of the town on Monmouthshire County Council.

“Alan wasn’t just a colleague, he became a friend over the years and was always on hand with advice and experience.

“He will be sorely missed, our thoughts are with his family at this sad time.”
