THE Sarno Twinning Association members have decided to 'moth ball' the association for a period of five years.

Treasurer, councillor Douglas Edwards said, "The lack of contact over recent years leads us to believe there is little or no interest by their council. We acknowledge the visit to Sarno three years ago appeared to be very successful. Our repeated attempts to invite them to Abergavenny to take part in the Foodfest and subsequently the Twinning Anniversary last year were a failure. There was a unanimous decision to put the Association in abeyance and the funds in hand to be dealt with in the following manner. The balance of the Sarno Disaster Fund of £417.46 be sent to the Red Cross with a specific request it be used in a disaster area.  The Members current account totalling £3371.60 to be deposited with the Town Council and to be ring fenced for a period of five years at the end of the five years the amount to be used by the Town Council for the benefit of promoting Twinning."
