NAILING his colours firmly to the environmental mast, nine-year-old Sam Jones, a pupil at Ysgol Gymraeg Y Fenni, has launched his own protest against a housing development close to his home.

Sam’s concern for the local ecosystem followed lessons stressing the need for conservation and the preservation of native wildlife.

Sam produced posters aimed at galvanising support from local residents against the controversial Pentre Road Fields Development which threatens the rural setting of existing homes.

Sam has also spoken at a protest meeting organised by residents, emphasising the importance of the fields and the need to preserve them.
