A SINGER adopted by the Salvation Army and raised as a young boy in the local citadel has teamed up with the cream of the organisation’s musicians to release an album of classic songs.

Abergavenny’s Bryn Yemm is joined by Salvation Brass, musicians drawn from Salvation Army bands across the UK who contribute distinctive arrangements to each song under the guidance of the musical director Dean Jones.

With over 10 albums of contemporary classic songs, together with performances throughout the world, Bryn was the only UK artist to have 2 chart entries in top 100 albums during 1986.

Bryn commented, ‘No matter where in the world I perform, I am proud to proclaim “I am from Wales – the land of song”; this is reflected by the inclusion of “Calon Lan” and “Guide Me O Thou Great Jehovah”.

He adds, ‘I am particularly excited and proud of my version of “McArthur Park”, with the brass band it thunders along.’
