A GROUP of eight pupils and a teacher from Haberdashers' Monmouth School for Girls took part in a 10km run in Cardiff to raise funds for their visit to Tanzania in summer 2009.

The eight girls who took part in September, Brigid Eades, Annabel Hampshire, Alicia Loe, Eleanor Cotterill, Laura Crossley, Georgia Davies, Charlotte Broughton, Imogen Stainton and teacher Mrs Newcomb raised a total of £1600.

Mrs Newcomb said, "We were very pleased with our times for the race. We all put in a lot of effort and training for this 10km run and were delighted with the money raised for our expedition to Africa in the summer."
