HRH The Duchess of Cornwall will be paying a visit to Usk on July 3 as part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of RHS Britain in Bloom. Hosted by Usk in Bloom, her visit will include a tour of local projects where she will meet the volunteers who over the past 33 years have done an extraordinary job keeping the town looking green, clean and beautiful. Chairman Tony Kear said,"We are extremely honoured and delighted to have been asked by the RHS to host the Duchess and welcome her to Usk. "This is a fantastic opportunity to present what Usk in Bloom has developed over many years. I know our volunteers both past and present as well as our In Bloom partners are incredibly excited at this visit and it's my privilege on their behalf to showcase Usk at its very best. " The Duchess's engagement in Usk is part of the itinerary for a joint tour with the Prince of Wales from June 30 to July 4 celebrating 'Wales, Past, Present and Future'. As Patron of the Landmark Trust, Prince Charles will visit Llwyn Celyn in Crucorney Fawr, a rare surviving example of a Grade 1 late 15th century farmstead, recently acquired by the trust. He will also visit Crickhowell to meet John and Margaret Morris, who produce various varieties of organic Welsh farmhouse apple juice.  The Royal couple will spend a week at Llwynywermod, their Welsh farmhouse near Llandovery in Carmarthenshire, where they will host a reception to mark the centenary of the birth of Dylan Thomas. Among numerous other engagements, they will pay tribute to Wales's coal mining past during a visit to Senghenydd where they will first attend a short service and lay a wreath at the foot of the Welsh National Mining Memorial, before touring and officially opening the Aber Valley Heritage Centre. A Clarence House spokesperson said: "The Prince and Duchess are looking forward to a busy week celebrating the unique heritage of Wales, from Celtic Christianity to Dylan Thomas. "Their Royal Highness also want to highlight modern Welsh success stories, such as the production of the Raspberry Pi at Sony in Pencoed and the quality foods made by artisan producers throughout the country."
