COMEDIAN Rhod Gilbert is to make a return to the Borough Theatre in Abergavenny on Thursday, May 24 with his ‘work in progress’ show.

His last tour, The Man with the Flaming Battenberg Tattoo was in 2012, and he has since concentrated largely on TV and radio work, including the  BBC Wales programme Rhod Gilbert’s Work Experience an episode of which featured ghost hunters and was recorded at the Borough Theatre.

Speaking earlier this year Gilbert said he would do ‘a few under-the-radar, low-key gigs - a pub in Abergavenny in front of 50 people, for example’ ahead of his full scale tour, which includes an already sold out return to the Edinburgh Festival.“After almost six years away from live stand-up, I’m itching to get back on stage. The world has gone totally mad since I last toured in 2012, and my head is all over the shop. It’s time to get back out there and sort it all out once and for all. I haven’t gigged in so long, I’ll be rustier than a Welsh barbeque. Why not come along and see me scrabbling around on stage, trying to find my notes, said Rhod.

Tickets for Rhod Gilbert’s Borough Theatre appearance cost £15 and go on sale today (Wednesday) at 1pm from the theatre box office on 01873 850805 or by visiting boroughtheatreabergavenny.co.uk
