Hundreds of people turned out to pay their respects to those who lost their lives in two World Wars and conflicts around the world on Remembrance Sunday.

Representatives from many local organisations including the Royal British Legion, scouting and guiding groups, veterans, cadets, the Borough Band and local politicians including members of Abergavenny Town Council lead by the mayor Councillor Tudor Thomas, Monmouth Senedd member Peter Fox MS for Monmouth and Councillor Richard John leader of Monmouthshire County Council.

The parade left the town hall for the march up Frogmore Street to the town’s Cenotaph where a short service took place and wreaths were laid by representatives of the many groups and organisations who attended on the day.

Cllr Thomas said: ‘‘This was one of the most moving services for this event that I have seen..

‘‘There was a very good turn out from all sections of Abergavenny.

‘‘I was privileged as Mayor of Abergavenny to lay a wreath on behalf of the Town Council and the whole community in recognition of the sacrifice service men and women have made in different conflicts.’’
