MONMOUTH School and Haberdashers' Monmouth School for Girls celebrated the achievements of pupils after another year of exceptional A Level results.
There was 78.3 percent of A and B grades at Monmouth School and a record 88.6 percent A and B grades at HMSG.
The outstanding results included 29 girls and 29 boys achieving at least three A grade A Levels. The overall pass rate was 100 percent at both schools.
Both schools were delighted with this year's results which highlighted the dedication and hard work of both pupils and teachers.
There were outstanding results at Haberdashers' Monmouth School for Girls, with 29 girls who gained at least three A grade A levels, 3 girls achieving 4 A grades and 5 girls attaining 5 A grades, 4 girls will take up places at Oxford or Cambridge.
Dr Brenda Despontin, head teacher at HMSG said, "I am enormously proud of all the students and their achievements. Many in this year's cohort joined HMSG with me 11 years ago, and we leave together too, so their results are rather special, and particularly pleasing. This year the A Level results are our best yet, 88.6 percent A to B grade and with 29 girls achieving at least 3 A grades. Some of these girls are Grade 8 musicians, achieve Gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards, or have rowed for Great Britain. Most of the girls will be embarking on a diverse range of exciting and rewarding university courses, and it is such a privilege to see them leave HMSG as confident, positive young women."
Among the successes at Monmouth School were 29 boys achieving at least 3 A grade A Levels, 4 boys who attained 4 A grade A Levels and 1 boy gaining 6 A grade A Levels. 8 boys will be taking up places at Oxford or Cambridge.
Dr Steven Connors, head teacher at Monmouth School said, "The outstanding results gained are a reflection of the tremendous effort the boys have made over the past two years. We would also like to highlight the boys' impressive achievements outside the classroom in sports, music and other extracurricular activities such as the CCF, which are greatly encouraged at Monmouth School. The majority of our sixth form leavers are going on to study at some of the UK's leading universities, with eight taking up places at Oxford or Cambridge. I am particularly proud as the headmaster of an all boys' school to see that our pupils have defied the gloomy national trend for boys' exam performance as we have maintained our excellent standard in results. With the guidance of their talented teachers, the boys have responded magnificently to the challenge of these examinations."
