THE Blaenavon and Pontypool Railway Gala was a huge success with visitors coming from far and wide.

There were model layouts and passengers young and old enjoying the trains - including the star attraction, the 1924 0-6-2 ex GWR tank engine working between Furnace Sidings and Whistle Inn and Mark Gale from Pontypool , 1957 Scammell Explorer , ex R.E.M.E. , 95 h.p.10.3 litre straight six petrol engine.
