THE Heads of the Valleys road between Abergavenny and Gilwern was closed for several hours on Monday, October 13 when a large lorry overturned on the Aberbaiden roundabout in the lead up to one of the busiest periods of the day.
The lorry, which was carrying wooden pallets and drums of wire, overturned heading towards Brynmawr just before the evening rush hour causing huge tailbacks towards Abergavenny.
Police officers were on patrol moving traffic away from the roundabout before the road between the Hardwick roundabout and Aberbaiden roundabout eventually closed allowing recovery vehicles to remove the lorry.
Gwent Police say they were notified of the accident at 4.30pm, no injuries were sustained and the road re-opened at 10pm.
