NORTH Monmouthshire people who are alone, homeless or simply struggling to put a dinner on the table on Christmas Day are being invited to visit the Robin Hood Inn, Monmouth between 12pm and 3pm for a full Christmas carvery on the house.

If transport is a problem, guests can be collected on Christmas Day by volunteer drivers and will be treated to a traditional turkey dinner, sparkling company and entertainment in a welcoming, festive environment.

Owner Mandy Turner said, ‘Christmas Day can be such a difficult time for many. We hate to think that people have nowhere to go and no one to share it with. We also understand the pressure on people to spend a lot of money they may not actually have at this time of year. This inspired us to create an event to help those in need in the local community and surrounding areas.

‘The support we have received from local volunteers and businesses has been overwhelming and we would still encourage others to step forward.

‘As well as helping out on Christmas Day there is a huge amount of prep involved. This includes promoting the event to potential guests, raising funds and sponsorship, sourcing vehicles and drivers plus a whole lot more.

‘Our fantastic team supported by a host of local volunteers is determined to put on a day that will warm the hearts and fill the bellies of all who join us.’
