TALENTED five-year-old Megan Thompson rode her pony and scooped firsts in the Royal Welsh Show.
Cwmllanwernath Melody, bred by Maureen Bainbridge from Govilon was produced by Jayne Shields in Abergavenny.
Megan and Melody, led by Jayne, won first in the open in the open show pony leading rein and in the ridden class and won the leading rein championship.
"The owner always wanted to win the Royal Welsh Show, "said Jayne.
Melody recently won the supreme championship at Llanthony Show. At the International Horse Show at Hickstead Melody did Wales proud coming fifth place out of 25 entries from all over the country and beyond.
After competing and achieving so much already, there's no time to rest as the riding continues for Melody and Megan.
"We have Equifest coming up in Peterborough, we're going to Newark and Malvern and Grantham."
At the young age of five the Buckinghamshire youngster has already got many achievements to be proud of including one fifth, one supreme, five championships and seven firsts.
Jayne told the Chronicle a bit about the day they headed to the Royal Welsh Show, "There were thousands of entries there and you can see the vans and lorries worth from £300,000 to half a million. Megan entered in the BSPS open leading rein show pony class and had to come out to the judge then do a trot along the front of the grand stand for three minutes to show pace and manners and consistency throughout. When the pony halts it can't sneeze or cough because that's it. Megan did brilliantly and loved every minute. I want to thank my sponsors Nupafeed, Top Spec, David Coulthard, Snuggy Hoods, Woody Pet and Claire Francis, who makes my leading rein outfits and has made clothes for the royal family," she said.
Another pony rider who is tipped to do very well is Georgia Collins, 10, from Abergavenny.
"Georgia helps out at the stables and is very good, she has her own pony, Cwmllanwenarth Symphony which is 12.2 hands high and has already started her first shows. She was very good at her first show and won novice show hunter and open show hunter and went champion on Nantyrhof Brigadier."
Her natural talent is already growing as she came second at Llanthony Show and is getting more confident each time she rides.
Jayne has two daughters, Jenna, 23, who started riding when she was five but recently stopped and Tarnya, 18, who started when she was three and continues to ride and compete.
