Monmouth AM Nick Ramsay last week welcomed the election of Paul Davies AM as the new leader of the Welsh Conservatives in the National Assembly.
Mr Davies, who launched his leadership campaign in Monmouthshire earlier in the summer, won the ballot of members convincingly with more than two-thirds of the vote.
Mr Ramsay said he was “delighted” with the result.
Speaking last week, Mr Ramsay said:
“I’m delighted with the result, and congratulate Paul Davies on his success in the Welsh Conservative leadership election.
“The fact that Paul won with over two thirds of the vote demonstrates the measure of confidence party members place in him.
“As the first Assembly Member to publicly endorse Paul I think he has what it takes to reform the Welsh Conservatives and prepare us for government in Wales.
“The party must now unite behind our new leader and get on with the job of providing a credible and competent alternative Welsh Government.”
