THE bank that says, ’We already thought about that’ has agreed to reconsider its decision to remove a cash point machine from Crickhowell after being told it was acting on incorrect information.

Kirsty Williams along with Councillor John Morris and town and community councillors from Crickhowell and Llangattock met with officials from NatWest after the bank announced its decision to remove its cashpoint from the town.

Speaking after the meeting Ms Williams, Welsh Lib Dem AM for Brecon and Radnorshire, said, “It was very important to meet with NatWest to discuss this terrible decision, particularly as it is partly based on the incorrect information that a business that manufactures cashpoints in the town is an active ATM.

"It’s also based on usage figures from before the closure of Lloyds. The officials agreed to look at this “new information” and reconsider the decision.

“I will continue working with the community to try and ensure the town has convenient access to cash.”

Councillor John Morris, Welsh Lib Dem councillor for Crickhowell, added, “After deserting their customers by closing the Crickhowell branch, the very least NatWest could do is keep the cashpoint they promised to leave. The fact this decision was made with incorrect and out of date information is even more worrying.

NatWest’s officials will have left the meeting with no doubt about the importance of this cashpoint to the town and I hope they will come to their senses.

NatWest closed its branch in Crickhowell in 2015 with Lloyds following suit last year.
