Abergavenny Police Station and former Magistrates Court are to be sold off as part of a cost-cutting drive, despite a half-million pound refurbishment five years ago.
Gwent Police, which is currently located at the Tudor Street building, will move to a new Abergavenny address within the next year.
The Magistrates Court buildings have stood empty for more than 12 months.
The sale has been offered on the instructions of the Ministry of Justice and the Police and Crime Commissioner for Gwent, Ian Johnston, whose brief includes the police estate.
Mr Johnston said: “This move is to be welcomed and I would like to make it perfectly clear from the outset that there will be no change in the service provided and the force will continue to have visibility and a base with a front counter service within the town.
“Ensuring Gwent Police has a strong presence in the heart of the communities it serves is important where reassuring and engaging with the public is concerned.”
