USK has been given verbal bouquets for its floral finery and blooming marvellous colour.

The plaudits have come from local assembly member Nick Ramsay who attended Usk in Bloom’s annual awards evening at Glen yr Afon Hotel this week.

He heaped praise on the town for scooping the Wales in Bloom large village category for the 34th time in succession to climax yet another highly successful year.

“It was great to be able to attend another busy awards night at the packed Glen yr Afon Hotel. Usk in Bloom has worked very hard again this year - and I was very pleased that both the First Minister and the Secretary of State for Wales visited the town in 2015 to support all the hard work of the volunteers.”

He added, “I was particularly interested to see photographs of Twyn Square in 1980 and to compare these with Usk today.

“The image of the town really has been lifted due to the hard work of all the volunteers over the years. Keep up the good work!”
