Drivers and residents in Llanover should prepare for a brief road closure later this month. Monmouthshire County Council intends to temporarily close a section of Ancient Road on Friday, July 31, 2026, to allow for essential poling works to be carried out safely.

The closure will affect a 95-meter stretch of the road, located roughly 0.75 kilometers from its junction with Byrgwm Road. Work is scheduled to take place between 8am and 5pm, with the council anticipating that the project will be completed within that single day.

Because Ancient Road is a no-through route, officials confirmed that no signed diversion will be put in place. However, reasonable access and egress will be maintained for fronting properties, though residents and visitors should expect short delays. Failing to comply with the temporary traffic order constitutes an offence.
