KEEN young photographers aged between six and 16 are being invited to enter a summer competition being promoted by two local businesses - Shackleton Photographic and Jay-C Imagery.

The competition, which is called 'My Summer Holiday' offers the chance to win some great prizes including free prints, a 12x18 canvas courtesy of Shackleton Photographic and and photography lesson with Jay-C Imagery's James Cunningham.

The competition opens today (Thursday) and the closing date for all entries is Thursday, August 23. Each entrant should be aged between six and 16 years old, and is allowed to submit three photographs which should be a minimum size of 7x5.

On the reverse of each photo, they should sate their name, age and telephone number.

The judging panel, which is made up of John Griffiths of Shackleton's Photographic, James Cunningham of Jay-C Imagery and Abergavenny Chronicle editor Liz Davies, will meet soon after the closing date to pick the three lucky winners.

The 3rd place winner will receive 100 free 6x4 photo's from Shackleton Photographic.

The 2nd place winner will receive 150 free 6x4 prints and a 12x18 canvas, again both from Shackleton Photographic.

The 1st place winner will receive 200 free 6x4 prints, 20x16 canvas, a tripod and an afternoons photographic lesson with James Cunningham. (Please note, the winner must be accompanied by a parent or guardian)

The winning photographs and a selection of the best entries will also be published in The Abergavenny Chronicle in early September.
