For a start there is the impressive number and quality of bands that will cater for fans of most musical genres, be it rock, pop, soul, jazz, ska, funk or male voice choirs.

London born singer/songwriter Claire Wilkin will open proceedings at 11.20am with a colouful mix of acoustic folk/pop that will include both covers and original material.

Next up are The Undivided with their skyscraper choruses and savvy, bruising power-pop arrangements.

Big Mac's Wholly Soul Band! will get you all dancing with their bombastic brass section and pulsating rhythm section, before local act The Last Resort set the stage alight with their well honed mix of rock and pop cover versions.

No matter who you are or where you're from Newport's Hoochie Mama will find you with their inspired blend of funk, soul, Latin and jazz rings out through the trees.

Indie band Freerun will follow and mark proceedings with their own particular stamp, before the Cwmbran and Mynyddislwyn Male Voice Choir change the tone with a traditional taste of Wales.

Taking inspiration from such legends as The Clash and The Who, Town will bring the noise to the gathered assembled as the party continues to rock into the evening and sets sail for the night.

2Rude will take you back to the late 70s with a tribute to the ska scene, before headline act Go X top the billing with a ferocious and infectious live show that has seen them make fans up and down the country in droves.

Now while you catch your breath, there's time enough to tell you about the non-musical entertainment on offer, which includes, Black Mountains Falconry, who will show and share with you some of their magnificent birds of prey, a fantastic display of agility and control from the police dog display, a medieval re-enactment from the British Plate Armour Society, a dose of dance from the Jawahir Middle Eastern Dance Club, axe racing with the Welsh Axemen, and if all that was not enough, Glastonbury regulars, The Biker Urban Morris Dancers will be on hand to enthrall everyone with their antics from a bygone age.

And if you and the kids don't fancy any of the above, why not give the little ones a go on the children's quad bikes, trampolines, super-bikes, climbing wall, bouncy castle, or any of the other festivities guaranteed to keep fun-loving fanatics of all ages occupied.

As it is organised by the Richard Hunt Foundation, the Welsh Warrior Festival will naturally have a number of soldiers present on the day who will be only too keen to guide your through the specially prepared military assault course.

And if all that sounds like thirsty work guaranteed to rouse your appetite, then help is at hand with the many food stalls and fully-licensed bar that will be on the grounds during the day.

So what are you waiting for. It's for a great cause, it's going to be an amazing day, and it only costs £5 per person. Make this Saturday a day to remember and get yourself to Bailey Park from 10am to 10pm, for the first ever Welsh Warrior Festival.
