A NEWPORT man who allegedly stabbed a women walking near her Abergavenny home has appeared in court charged with attempted murder and having an offensive weapon.
Janet Maddrell, 58, was rushed to hospital on Thursday, May 13, after allegedly being stabbed by Neil Martin Anthony, 39, as she walked along the Hereford Road.
The road was closed as police forensics teams gathered evidence following the knife attack that happened at approximately 10.10am.
Mrs Maddrell suffered stab wounds to her body and was taken to the Nevill Hall Hospital, but has now been released.
Officers recovered a knife from the scene that they believe was used in the incident.
Patrols increased in the area as officers made house to house enquiries and spoke to a number of witnesses.
