Monmouthshire County Council is seeking a full time manager to assume responsibility for running the Borough Theatre in Abergavenny. The successful applicant would be an advocate for the theatre, providing strategic management and creative vision and influence within the local and wider performing arts community as well as effectively managing its forward planning, strategy, programming and day-to-day business.
The Borough Theatre has recently returned to the ownership and management of Monmouthshire County Council. It is a lively 300 seat venue situated in the centre of historic Abergavenny, presenting a wide ranging year-round schedule of professional and community productions. The theatre is part of the 150 year old town hall building.
The manager will be responsible for developing and overseeing the delivery of an exciting programme of events and providing strategic management for the administrative, marketing, production and financial functions of the theatre including the supervision and management of the box office and the front of house staff and volunteers.
Councillor Bob Greenland, Monmouthshire’s cabinet member with responsibility for cultural services said: “We are seeking an energetic, entrepreneurial and experienced individual with an enthusiasm for pulling the theatre up by its bootstraps and taking it forward as a notable and diverse performing arts venue, equipping the theatre for a future of growth and development.”
