A CEREMONY to appoint a new head of the St John Ambulance in Wales was held at St Mary’s Priory Church, Abergavenny this week

Gwent County Commissioner, Daniel Lyons has been inaugurated as the new leader of St John’s Cymru Wales and its 4,000 volunteers; the service also included the Installation of Grosmont resident Stephen Hughes as the new Chancellor of St John Wales.

An ambulance which saw use in World War One provided the centrepiece as the charity looks forward to celebrating its centenary in 2018.

In his address Canon Mark Soady reminded the congregation that Jesus gave us a style of Leadership which develops other people gifts, pointing out that St John’s does the same through its work with their youth sections, the Cadets and Badgers.
